PRESS NOTE

Sub : Draft Concept Bill on the proposed Competition Law – Placed on the website of DCA for comments and suggestions.

 

It may be recalled that the High-Level Committee on Competition Policy and Law constituted by the Central Government submitted its Report to the Central Government some time back. Based on the recommendations of the said Committee, a Draft Concept Bill of the proposed Competition Law has been prepared.

2. Minister of Law, Justice & Company Affairs and Shipping Shri Arun Jaitley, has desired that the Draft Concept Bill be placed on the website of the Department of Company Affairs (DCA) and comments and suggestions of all concerned – including trade and industry; academicians and researchers; consumer groups and interested persons -- be obtained. Such suggestions would be useful in finalising the Draft Competition Bill before introduction in the Parliament during the ensuing winter session.

3. The Draft Concept Bill on Competition Law may be accessed on the DCA-website: www.nic.in/dca.

4. All concerned are requested to send their comments and suggestions to the Department of Company Affairs within a period of 10 days.
