PRESS NOTE
NO.1/2005
Subject:-Launching
of a new System of Online lodging of complaints of investors and depositors
against companies with the Ministry of Company
Affairs.
Investor Protection Cell (IPC) in the Ministry of Company Affairs was set
up in 1993 to deal with
grievances of investors and depositors against companies. It receives a large number of complaints
daily from the aggrieved investors and depositors.
At present, the investors send their
grievances against companies
largely through letters. These complaints are processed with the help of
Computer. Thereafter, letters are
issued in physical form to the concerned companies and the concerned Registrar
of Companies. The existing method
of processing grievances of the investors and depositors takes considerable
time.
With
a view to improving the present system of lodging of complaints against
companies and
their processing by the Ministry, a new system for online lodging of
complaints by investors and depositors have been jointly developed by the
Ministry of Company Affairs and the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The new system will facilitate investors
and depositors to electronically lodge their complaints with the Investor
Protection Cell without the requirement of sending their grievances in writing
through post. The system will issue
complaint number as acknowledgement online for future reference.
Further more, the complainant will be informed regarding the processing
of the complaint and the authorities /agencies to whom the complaint has been
referred to by the Ministry for redressal.
The investors can also access the system in order to know about further
progress made on the complaint from time to time.
The
new system for lodging online complaints of investors and depositors is being
released on 11th January 2005 on the website of Ministry of Company
Affairs (http://dca.nic.in).
