Subject: Modification of Constitution of a Committee on Law relating to Insolvency of Companies

This Department had constituted a Committee on Law relating to Insolvency of Companies vide this Department Order of even number dated 22.10.99. A Press Note No:11/99) to this effect was issued on the same date. The said Order dated 22.10.99 has been partially modified vide this Department Corrigendum of even number dated 6.12.99. The following modifications have been made in the earlier order dated 22.10.99:

    1. In para 3 at serial number 1 the name of "Shri Justice K.S. Paripoornan, Retired Judge of Supreme Court - Chairman", shall be read as "Shri Justice V. Balakrishna Eradi, Retired Judge of Supreme Court – Chairman".

The revised Constitution of the Committee would therefore be as under:

    1. Shri Justice V.Balakrishna Eradi, Retired Judge of Supreme Court - Chairman

    2. Shri S. Ramaiah, former Secretary Legislative Department – Member

    3. Shri Subodh Bhargava, Nominee of CII – Member

    4. Prof. C.G. Raghavan, former Dean Professor & Head of the Department of Law, Nagpur University - Member

    5. Shri A.V. Sambhashiva Rao, Advocate, Vice President, All India Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh - Member

    6. Shri V.K. Bhasin, Legislative Department - Member

    7. Shri G.M. Ramamurthy, Chief General Manager (Legal) , IDBI

      - Member

    8. Shri U.P. Mathur, Advocate - Member

    9. Shri Shardul Shroff, Advocate , Delhi - Member

    1. In para 5, for the words "three months" the words "six months" will be substituted. The revised para 5 of the Order shall accordingly read as under:

"5. The Committee will submit its report within a period of six months from the date of its first meeting."

2. All other terms and conditions mentioned in Order dated 22.10.99 shall remain unchanged.
